Panel 1 - IP Trends in Pharma and Biotech 
A discussion of the most important IP topics related to LS, such as recent case law pertaining to biotech patents, trends and considerations in ANDA and other life science litigation shifts. Additionally, we will cover the complex relationship between rewarding innovation in LS through robust patent and trade secret protection and public health policy

 

 

Panel 2 - AI-Guided Drug Discovery 
A conversation about how the latest technologies, such as artificial intelligence and predictive modelling, are used to harness the vast and growing quantity of public disease and drug-related data. Topics may include the benefits of drug repurposing strategies to life sciences companies and to society at large, and the convergence of seemingly disparate data types in the search of new drug indications.

Professor Jayne Lawrence, MBE

University of Manchester

Professor Jayne Lawrence is a pharmacist who, in addition to working in academia, has spent time working in community, hospital and industrial pharmacy. She is currently Head of the Division of Pharmacy and Optometry, Manchester University. Prior to this she was Professor and Head of the Pharmaceutical Biophysics Group, Institute of Pharmaceutical Science, King’s College London and Chief Scientist at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS). Over the last 25 years Professor Jayne Lawrence has pioneered the use of neutron scattering techniques in pharmaceutical science. Professor Jayne Lawrence was awarded an MBE for her service to pharmaceutical research in the 2020 Queen’s birthday honours.
