Joe has been providing strategic and operational IP advice to early-stage tech entrepreneurs for the past 20 years. During this time, he has worked with the UK’s largest free entrepreneur accelerator programme, the NatWest Accelerator and written extensively about IP and entrepreneurship for the mainstream media including HuffPost and UK Tech News. Joe has also been on a startup journey of his own, having secured £30,000 in seed funding from the UK Intellectual Property Office to launch an IP clinic for student and graduate entrepreneurs (iPass).  iPass now has a nationwide reach. Joe has also taken his message about the importance of IP to early-stage tech entrepreneurs beyond the UK; Joe is a visiting professor at two of Europe’s most prestigious universities, Paris Nanterre and Bocconi in Italy. Joe has also recently partnered with Brit Asia TV in providing IP training to entrepreneurs seeking funding from its groundbreaking ‘Pitch It’ competition.

Efrat Kasznik

Efrat Kasznik is President of Foresight Valuation Group and a Lecturer at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Ms. Kasznik is a Silicon-Valley based IP valuation and strategy expert with more than two decades of consulting experience, focusing on assisting IP holders across industries with the valuation, commercialization, and monetization of their intangible assets. She helps clients ranging in size from Fortune 100 companies to start-ups, with IP and business valuations in support of licensing deals, IP and technology acquisitions, M&A transactions, financial reporting, strategic planning, and fundraising. She frequently serves as a testifying expert in disputes involving IP and startup valuations and damages. Ms. Kasznik served as Chair of the High-Tech Sector (2019-2020) and is currently serving as Chair of the Valuation Committee of LES USA-Canada. She is also a member of the Board of the LES Silicon Valley Chapter. She has been recognized as one of the top IP strategists in the world by IAM 300 for 8 years in a row (2013-2020).

Karen has a unique vantage point from 20+ years’ experience working in growing deep-tech companies from start-up ventures to large corporations. Over these years, she has held a number of technology and business development roles. These included responsibility for securing early-stage investment, validating technology value with product/market fit, and negotiating IP licensing deals. Frequently, she finds herself being a trusted advisor to venture founders helping them build and lead their teams.  And this is where she thrives. In her current role at the University of Toronto, she advises top researchers navigate product development and early market validation for next-generation technologies. In addition to being a frequent speaker on panels and course instructor, Karen serves as on the Board of the Licensing Executive Society USA & Canada.
